bounce baby!

We were supposed to have a bounce house at Asher’s first birthday party, but due to lack of electricity at the park, we couldn’t get it blown up!  What a bummer for the kids, BUT we did get a raincheck!  So today, just in time for the perfect weather, the kids got the bounce house in their backyard.

u.f.o sighting

this is a swing!

James took the kids to a new park on Saturday morning (before all the rain!) so I could continue to scrapbook our Disney trip.  (Thanks babe!)

Wow, parks are sure changing these days!  James came back with lots of pictures, (seriously James, I’m trying to catch up on my scrapbooking!) of all these crazy looking structures.  He said the park was very cool and I’m looking forward to going this summer!  Here is the link for all my Austin friends-Mueller Lake Park.

easter

We had a great holiday weekend with my family!  First, the girls went to a local church’s egg hunt on Saturday.

Next, their aunt Jessica let them do their own make-up (and hers!)

Then, the kids got to open their Christmas presents Easter baskets from Grandma.

Then we ate a pre-Easter dinner with my whole family.

Then Ella ate her hollow chocolate bunny like this.

We made Resurrection cookies next. (I really recommend this activity!)

The girls dyed eggs.  And Ella dyed her hand.

all hail the Queen?

I was trying to videotape Asher crawling outside when Rilyn and Ella started bringing me into their ‘pretend world’.  I’m pretty sure I have the Veggie Tales movie, Rack, Shack, and Benny to blame for this…but it is still cute.

**I love Ella’s face in this-classic Ella.  And I love how Ella tries to justify her sister,  “Rilyn is Jesus.”   Such a sweet and sacrilegious sister.

my mini me

Rilyn may look like her daddy but she has my personality!  Yesterday, after she had finished cleaning the playroom (one of her chores), James found this list.  She told us matter of factly that she had to make a list of all the toys she had to clean up first.  I love that she even started to ‘x’ out the toys as she had cleaned them up.  A daughter after my own heart!  It is so fun to watch Rilyn as she is an emerging reader and writer.  As a former kindergarten teacher, this is what I loved to teach!

a first christmas and a surprise

Christmas morning started out with presents.  We decided to start the tradition of 3 presents to each child like the wise men gave to Jesus.  One present is a need, one is a want, and one is a gift for spiritual growth.  Rilyn’s want was a bike this year and Ella’s was a microphone!  (We are taking advantage of Asher not knowing what is going on so he didn’t get presents from us this year.)

Then we had a birthday cake for Jesus for breakfast!

James surprised me with my very own laptop!  I’ve never had my own laptop so this is a pretty big deal for me!  After presents, we drove to my parents house.  Asher celebrated his first Christmas this year.  He, unfortunately, slept through Christmas at our house (morning nap)and my parent’s house(afternoon nap).  But I still commemorated the event with pictures after he woke up.

After we all opened our presents under the tree at my parents house, my parents surprised us…

In late spring, my parents are taking the whole family to California for a 5 day vacation!!! For those who don’t know, I was raised in southern California for 16 years. It has always been my dream since Rilyn was born to take my family to Disneyland and show my children where I grew up! I am beyond excited!!!!!
