Daddy Daughter Dance

This is the third Daddy Daughter Dance for James and the girls, but this one was extra special because our church, The Austin Stone, hosted it!  They had a wonderful time and James picked up Rilyn for a lunch date, and Ella for a dinner date before the dance.  Each girl gets their special time with daddy!

thanks daddy! I love it!

It’s so pretty, thanks!

The beautiful decorations!

Ella’s “Annie” Birthday!

James made a sweet video of Ella’s party day! Check it out!

Since Ella was Annie in the musical this December, she wanted to have an Annie themed 9th birthday party! Makes sense to me!  🙂  Let’s start with the decorations!

I found the original Annie movie poster on Ebay!

I drew this on our kitchen chalkboard.

Rilyn made this out of Wikki Stix! Cute!

I made “mops and buckets” to hold candy at each of their seats!

I made an Annie sign by buying letters and wrapping them with lights! I also printed off famous lines in the movie to make a banner.

The amazing cookie cakes that my friend Jen decorated!

The game prizes: Daddy Warbucks “money”, “coins” (chocolate) and music note journals!

Ready for this party to start!

The first activity was painting the word “Smile” because well, “You’re never fully dressed without a smile!”

The next activity was called the Hard Knock Life game! Girls got in pairs and were timed to do 3 different “chores”! First chore was “mopping across the floor” like so.

Next the pair had to squeeze all the water from one bucket into another bucket using only sponges! (All the while I’m yelling at them like Miss Hannigan to hurry up!) 🙂

Then their last chore was to each sweep a pile of sand across the floor to the other side. Fastest time for all 3 chores done together wins!

The next game was a scavenger hunt when the girls divided into two teams and had to find Annie’s missing locket! We hid pictures of the characters in Annie around the house and then they used clues to go from picture to picture trying to find the locket! Who has it?!

Here are the girls reading clue #1!

Run Ella to the next clue!

We found the locket!!

Next is was time for cold mush…okay, okay, not cold mush, but ICE CREAM and cookie cake! 😉

Happy Birthday dear Ella, happy birthday to you!

My sweet NINE year old!

The picture captures Ella well- always. a. mess.

Time for presents! Ella loves reading her cards!

After eating and presents, we did Karaoke and they sang their favorite Annie songs!

James found an app to put up a “music video” of themselves while singing! 🙂

Ella’s classmates in 3rd grade singing their hearts out!

When the party was over, Ella got to have a few of her best friends stay for a sleepover!

Christmas in Fort Worth

Hi it’s Rilyn, this is my first blog post to write! We had Christmas in Fort Worth with dad’s family December 21st!

Here are the elves playing the stocking game!

On Thanksgiving Uncle Ben told us he was going to get us vegtables for Christmas. Of course he does!

Trying to look happy.

Why are you squatting Asher? And what are you doing back there Dad? I guess father like son.

Asher loves his Pikachu!

I love chemistry!

Asher looking at his JUMBO Pokemon card!

And Ella loves her cat!

Men will be men, and Asher will be Asher.

Annie Jr. was a hit, and we were SO BLESSED by all the family and friends that came out for the show! I think we had close to 100 supporters from church, school, and family that came out for the big night!

Of course, we had to play up the Annie theme this season with an Annie Christmas card (thanks to the Annie movie(poster)that came out last night!)

Asher as Daddy Warbucks (yes we had to bribe him to wear a bald cap!), James as Rooster, I’m Miss Hannigan of course, Rilyn as Grace Farrell, and Ella as Annie!

Rilyn was Grace in both shows, so here she is on Dec. 17th! She did awesome and didn’t forget one line!

Her 5th grade ELA and Science teachers came to watch her perform! How sweet is that?

We were so proud of our Rilyn!

On Dec. 18th, it was Ella’s time to be Annie. I was so nervous the whole day, because I have never seen Ella act. Seriously, all the auditions, practices, and rehearsals were closed. They had been practicing for four months, but could she do it? She had so many lines and solos…well, she BLEW US AWAY with her talent and acting chops! Both her and Rilyn were amazing!! Proud, proud parents right here!
Ella’s big night…

Annie comforting Molly, “It was only a dream, honey. Now, you gotta go back to sleep…”

So, maybe now it’s time, and maybe when I wake, they’ll be there callin’ me “baby,”…maybe.

It’s a HARD KNOCK LIFE!!!!!!!!!

Empty-belly life! Rotten, smelly life! Full-of-sorrow life! No-tomorrow life!

This was how James was watching the girls the whole time, he was mouthing the lyrics, so hopeful and proud the whole time! It was sweet to watch!

I’m runnin’ away! My folks are never comin’ for me. I gotta go find them.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow! (with Sandy, the dog)

At Daddy Warbuck’s mansion…I (We) know you’re gonna like it here!!

NYC…To think that I’ve lived here all of my life, and never seen these things!

Together at Last…”Yesterday was plain awful!”

Together, at last! Together, forever! We’re trying a knot they never can sever!

I don’t need anything but you!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya, tomorrow! You’re always a day away!

Ella and Rilyn truly had one of the best nights of their life, being able to perform in front of SO MANY friends and family. Ella said, “I’ll always remember that night…”(and then cried because it was over!) Ella asked me to “find another Annie show, because I want to do this again!”

Ella’s 3rd grade teachers came!

I love this picture, because I can see the pride/love in uncle Ben’s eyes of his Ella Bella!

Oma and Papaw drove from Fort Worth just to see the show!

Proud Grandma and Grandpa!

Some of the friends from church that came out to watch!

To see their faces when they found out their roles back in September, see here!

Thanksgiving 2014

Asher had a Thanksgiving Feast in first grade!  He went with the “C” theme and only wanted corn, a cupcake, and a CapriSun!  🙂

We went to my parents house for the break, decorated for Christmas with the cousins, and had Thanksgiving day lunch at Cracker Barrel.  🙂

Then we took Rilyn to the Aggie game!  We unfortunately lost, but Rilyn and I got to see the new Kyle Field!

After the game, the next day we headed to Fort Worth to celebrate with James’ family!

James’ whole family plus his two uncles!

We had a great time in Fort Worth! The kids enjoyed starting a puzzle with Oma!

Cuddling with Papaw Bear!

And to top off the weekend, the girls went ice skating with the family!

Ella’s Aggie game!

Bless James’ heart!  He went to the Aggie game last Saturday with Ella and Asher, and it was cold, rainy, late night, AND a heart-breaking loss at the end of the game!  He was a trooper, bringing all their ski gear so they would stay warm and dry!  They still had a good time with grandpa, despite the circumstances!

Halloween 2014

We had one of best Halloweens this year!  I’m pretty sure this was because it wasn’t on a school night!  🙂  We carved pumpkins earlier in the week and Asher wanted me to carve Pikachu from Pokemon!  The girls can now carve their own pumpkins!  Yahoo!

This year Rilyn wanted to be Athena because she loves Greek mythology (from reading the Percy Jackson series). Ella followed suit, and was also a Greek goddess! Asher chose Darth Vader!

Darth discovers his softer side!

After pictures, we headed over to the Richardson’s house for a pre-trick-or-treating dinner. As a special treat this year, aunt Mandy and uncle Allen joined us!

Asher was getting tired and stayed behind with me towards nightfall to pass out candy!

pumpkin patch 2014

Oh how I love traditions, and one of them is going to the pumpkin patch each fall!  Here is our annual pumpkin patch pictures at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm!
