Surprise (Chocolate) Shower!!

Last week James told me that we had an ‘accounting dinner’ at Olive Garden on Wednesday night.  I thought this was kinda strange being that a big company like Dell would choose Olive Garden, (no offense to this delicious Italian restaurant which I love!), to host a company dinner but was like oh well-it gave me a reason to shower and put on decent clothes (neither which I do these days b/c I’m 36 weeks pregnant and have 2 kids under 4!)  So, you can imagine my delight when my good friends, Jen and Leslie, surprised me by taking me to Olive Garden instead of the supposed company dinner to celebrate Asher’s upcoming arrival.  I was touched and thought nothing of it when they said afterward we were meeting at Angela’s house for dessert and to open a present for me.  Well….when we got to Angela’s house there were 20 people all waiting for me to celebrate Asher!  There was chocolate everything b/c my friends know me so well.  So, thank you Jen, Leslie, Angela, Diana, and Yuna!  You truly made me feel very loved and even more excited for Asher’s arrival!  (And James did a great job lying to me too-I truly was surprised!)

An Easter Song

Rilyn lately likes to make up her own songs. Today, Easter Sunday, she did not disappoint and decided to compose a ballad of the true meaning of Easter for us. Her video is priceless (her lyrics a bit random), but if you will watch till the end, Ella will manage to get a little attention too!

New Easter pics are uploaded also on our March photo link. :-)

Lyrics:

Jesus died on the cross

For the dead of God

He is the rose of the dead

That’s right!

He rose up from dead

Now we go to church on Sundays and Thursdays

That’s why we are churches

We have church in heaven all way down

Jesus loves us because we are heaven

We are going to go in heaven

Someday we will go in heaven

We will want Him too

And someday we will see Jesus in our heart

Completely

May Jesus loves us and you mommy and

That’s-why-Jesus-loves-us-too!!!!!

Hmm. Hmm.

Good Friday

April, 1999.

At Texas A&M, James made it into the Battalion, our school’s newspaper, for his performance of ‘the criminal’ in the crucifixion scene.

New Haircut!

Rilyn has been asking to have her haircut short “like mommy’s” so I thought with the warm weather coming, it was time to chop!  (Her last haircut was in June!)  Here are the results!  :-)

Carny Time

James took Rilyn to the carnival (part of Rodeo Austin) Monday night along with our good friends Jeff and his son, Cole Richardson. Cole was pretty interested in watching the people work the food booths at the fair. James asked Cole quietly, “Do you want to be a carnie?” but Rilyn heard and loudly announced, “I want to be a carnie!!” Hmm, not the future I quite had in mind for her…

“Cole, follow me!” (story of his life when he is with Rilyn)

Childhood Wonder

So James and Jeff posed Cole to do this b/c they thought it would be funny. (James won’t think this is funny too much longer!!!!)

So someone other than James had to remind me that this month James and I have officially been together for 10 years. I guess we’re not big romantics! ;-) (Okay, and there was a break-up in 1999 for a little while, but you know what I mean.)  Our 7 year wedding anniversary (and three kids later) is coming up soon too-time flies by!!!  So, here is our first pics together that my mom took at my house in Temple while James came to visit me during Spring Break of 1998. (Gotta love James’ hair!)

Rodeo Austin!

I took the girls to the rodeo today (just the petting zoo part.) I think the highlight was throwing the hay around. If I would of known that, I would of just taken the girls to the side of Parmer Lane and let them go to town with the hay bales. Rilyn was freaked out at the petting zoo which I probably should of guessed since she is scared of dogs at people’s houses. My highlight was having the best funnel cake EVER!!! It was worth the $6 it cost(don’t ya love rodeo food prices?)!

32 weeks…

So I’m 8 months pregnant now…it’s getting really hard being soooooo BIG (30 lbs bigger!!) and taking care of the girls!  But I am blessed to have an amazing husband who is helping in any way he can, (and will pose for sentimental pictures with his wife b/c he knows how much it means to her.)  Love you James (and baby Asher who we can’t wait to meet!)

Piper

Richard Halverson, the chaplain of the U.S. Senate, pointed out something that bothers a lot of people and excites a few. He said,

Jesus Christ said more about money than about any other single thing because, when it comes to a man's real nature, money is of first importance. Money is an exact index to a man's true character. All through Scripture there is an intimate correlation between the development of a man's character and how he handles his money.

That is a good paraphrase of Matthew 6:21 where Jesus says, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." In other words, what your money goes after is a signal of what your heart goes after. And Jesus cares more than anything about what your heart is going after.

What our hands do with our money shows what our hearts are doing with God. Or to get right at the heart of the matter: what we do with our money shows what we believe God is doing with us. What money is to us shows what God is to us. Jesus said, "A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions" (Luke 12:15). No, it consists in his relationship to God. "This is eternal life—true life —" Jesus said to his Father in heaven, "that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3). What we do with our money shows where we believe life—and joy and love and hope and security and meaning and freedom—is found.
