Rain Rain Go Away!!!

Well, if I can’t change the weather, then I’m going to use it to my advantage which means try to take cute pictures of Rilyn playing in the rain!  (Ella was napping).  She LOVED splashing around and really didn’t want her umbrella.  Enjoy!

Okay we get it girls…you hate to swim…maybe next summer

Once again daddy tried to get the girls to learn to swim to no avail.  We don’t want to scar them so we are giving up this summer and just letting them swim on ‘their terms’ in the water (walking around in ankle deep water and splashing around.)  Oh well!

So our girls won’t be Olympian swimmers, but on the bright side, maybe our girls will have a future in modeling….;-)

Thanks to Yuna Suh for letting us crash at her ‘pad’ and borrowing the infinity pool-great view!

Rilyn’s First Haircut

Well, finally at age 3, she has gotten her first haircut!  We went to a fun place called Snip-Its.  She did great and looks so cute (and older) with her new bob.

July 7th Neighborhood Parade

So, we had a neighborhood parade today and mommy ‘pimped our ride’.  ;-)   They had judges to look at our wagons and we won “Coolest Ride”!  (Mommy got a Target gift certificate-whoopee.  I got a gold medallion!!!)  Mom’s note:  Yes, they were the 5 cent plastic ones.  We followed a fire truck as we paraded around our neighborhood pool/clubhouse.  Then we bounced in bounce houses and ate barbeque.  What a fun morning with mommy and grandma.  We miss daddy, we’ll see him tomorrow night!  Have a safe flight daddy!

July 4th

We had our 3rd annual July 4th barbeque/pool party at my parents house.  We somehow managed to get a group shot of the kiddos this year.  From L to R:  Mason Rice, Anna Richardson, Ella Paquette, Rilyn Paquette, Ella Douglass, Cole Richardson, and Dasan Hill.

Happy July!

Can you believe it is already July?!  Rilyn and Ella got matching dolly outfits with their 4th of July dresses from Grandma so they were eager to pose for the camera today.  Rilyn’s newest quips:  (I told Rilyn earlier that day that we could go to the pool after she went poopoo in the potty.  She was having an upset tummy that day.)  She prayed before her nap, “Dear Father, please let me go diarrhea so I can go swimming at the pool today, Amen.”

Grandma asked Rilyn who lived at Disneyland.  “I know,” Rilyn said, “God!”

Rilyn is ALWAYS talking.  If there is a brief moment of silence, Rilyn has to talk.  “Mom,” she says, “I don’t know what to say.”  ;-)

Piper

Richard Halverson, the chaplain of the U.S. Senate, pointed out something that bothers a lot of people and excites a few. He said,

Jesus Christ said more about money than about any other single thing because, when it comes to a man's real nature, money is of first importance. Money is an exact index to a man's true character. All through Scripture there is an intimate correlation between the development of a man's character and how he handles his money.

That is a good paraphrase of Matthew 6:21 where Jesus says, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." In other words, what your money goes after is a signal of what your heart goes after. And Jesus cares more than anything about what your heart is going after.

What our hands do with our money shows what our hearts are doing with God. Or to get right at the heart of the matter: what we do with our money shows what we believe God is doing with us. What money is to us shows what God is to us. Jesus said, "A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions" (Luke 12:15). No, it consists in his relationship to God. "This is eternal life—true life —" Jesus said to his Father in heaven, "that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3). What we do with our money shows where we believe life—and joy and love and hope and security and meaning and freedom—is found.
